Our aim off this pilot project is to offer not only amazing shows, but also enable international co-operation between artists, improve the status of sideshow as an art in Finland and deconstruct some of the prejudices towards sideshow. Festival gives the oppotunity to create network between performing artists and will increase the awareness of circus sideshow art in Finland. In addition the lecture/presentations during the festival will develop and improve finnish performing arts field by offering artists information needed for safe working, history of sideshow and where to find more information and knowledge about the matter. People visiting the festival will have opportunity to explore the diversity of sideshow as an entertainment and performing arts.

The festival is organized as a nonprofit event. All work done in preparation is volunteer work If there will be surplus afterwards, the money will be forwarded to next years festival budget.

THE VENUES

Kulttuuriareena Gloria (engl.Cultural Arena Gloria) is Helsinki City Youth Departments culture arena located in the middle of Helsinki. Gloria Cultural Arena is a synergistic innovation centre whit capacity of 600 where different arts and groups can come together to create new urban culture. There has been bands, theatres, performing arts, circus, clubs, discos, fashion shows, galleries, cafes, meetings, training and small festivals during the years.

On the Rocks is located in the absolute center of Helsinki, On the Rocks is a live music rock club and street bar for everyone looking for a cool place to hang out, relax and listen to good music or check out some great live bands. You can find us right next to the Central Railway Station, at Mikonkatu 15.

FRINGE! -KLUBI ON THE ROCKS

Fringe is our official opening club that is done in collaboration with On the Rocks bar.

AGE RESTRICTIONS

Age limit to the main event is 18.

CAMERAS AND RECORDERS

Taking pictures is permitted. Any unauthorized filming of the shows is prohibited. Please request a permit from the organizers.

CLOAKROOM

Please note that there is a separate charge of 2,5€ for use of cloakroom in Cultural Arena and 3€ cloakroom charge in On the Rocks bar.

VOLUNTEERING

We are looking for volunteers to help the festival crew for pre-festival street team work, set building, various tasks during the festival and post-festival set disassembly. All volunteers must be at least 18 and have a Finnish social security number, and be brisk and motivated. More information about how to volunteer will be announced in March-April 2014.
